The 80s really were hideous, but this show has so much oomph, fun and energy that it'll start making you think that 1984 was actually quite cool. Set in the tiny, old fashioned Novello Theatre in London's Aldwych theatre district, the gold - leaf setting is in stark contrast to the show itself, which is colourful, high energy and very, very 80s!

Whether you've never seen the film, or you wore your VHS tape out dancing along with Kevin Bacon in the 80s, Footloose is a great live show. The simple story is well adapted and the songs are perfectly made for this kind of thing it's no surprise it's been a great success on Broadway. The story is of Chicago club teenager, Ren, who moves to small town Bomont where dancing is outlawed. He meets a girl, struggles against this crazy law, the town's yoof band together... and then, well, you'll just have to see the show.

Footloose starts, literally, with a bang, which is a great way to set people's hearts racing - the song medley at the start already had half the audience dancing in their seats. It's great to see a show with a real life band and this one is particularly dynamic and funky.

The sets are simple and effective. They look great and move quickly. And the role of Willard in the show is much cooler and funnier than in the film, and is a real highlight.

But the main stars of the show are the voices. My god, they've collected some amazing talent for this gig. It's one of those casts where no-one lets the side down - they are all amazing all-rounders.

The voices on these kids are massive - noticeable especially during the 'Paradise' massive 80s power ballad duet with Ren and Ariel. In fact, the performer who stood out the most tonight was the understudy for the role of Ren, Gavin Alex. He pulled off all the mega-energetic dances, has an amazing voice and he's not too shabby in the looks department either!

The amount of energy expended in this show could fuel a third world country for a year. And it's infectious. By the end, everyone had cut footloose and the whole crowd was literally out of their seats dancing. What an awesome show. Let's hear it for the boys!
