Intense beyond belief, Angie certainly knew how to polish a crowd. Opening the sequel to the feet thudding 'Missing My Love' the crowd were in for a soul cleansing session. Hands up high as if clutching on to monkey bars, Angie was showered with screams and jeers from all wing sections.
Though one would believe all eyes would be on Angie, it was the dynamics of her band that throttled the crowd. As the great Angie adds, "Musicians are the foundation of it all." In saying so, the band het up the crowd with an erratic amalgamation of chords, drums, string and keys. Travis on keys, Errol on guitar, Tim on Bass, Chino, Scott, Juanita: backup singers, Westley on drums. Well-adjusted and balanced they rip into the interlude of 'Touch it why don't you'.
No questions about it, but the big time crowd pleaser had to be 'So Pissed off' the throng collectively sling their heads back and forth as Angie swivels her booty to the pumped out bass. 'Bottles & Cans' proved to be just as powerful encapsulating the vulnerability of what love can make us do.
'I wanna thank you' sees Angie spitting some rhymes. 'Stay for a while' drenched the crowd. By including her back up singer Chino into the mix, this was a pleasant recipe, with one gig goer saying, "That boy can hit some super super ssuuupper high notes!" Not only did Chino's vocal range sweep the ladies, but a grind jam between them set the smoke machines rotating.
With a
few albums to play with, Angie provides the crowd with an aperitif of her
new track, 'Pop That Bottle Top'. Engaging with the crowd, she divides the
audience (Chino and Scott on left, and Angie and Juanita on right) making
each section sing, and then uniting each side to form a harmony. Not suffice
with the public's participation
Angie gets all the men to stand up to 'Black Brotha'.
As the
gig gears towards an end, Angie splices her soulful vibe to 'I wish I didn't
miss you' sadly, we already do!
